Bowl Season
hello my fellow college football loving brethren,
the sports donkey is going to keep a running log while he watches every second of all 34 bowl games. make sure to click on this bowl mania link, or on the “Categories” section on the right side and hit the folder labeled “Bowl Mania” for a running log of posts. view fresh posts tracking crucial sarcastic in game and post game analysis. this home page will not update to new posts so make sure to periodically click on the bowl mania folder to view cutting edge material.
no, the sports donkey is not actually going to watch EVERY second of every bowl game, contrary to popular belief he does have a little bit of a life. (actually, since some games overlap he can’t connect 3 tvs at once, he’s only got 2 tvs in his living room so by default he can’t watch all of them.)
although we have too many bowl games, it allows smaller programs to play one last time during the holiday season for their fans. whereas a playoff system only leaves one team standing, the bowl system allows over half the teams to give their fan base one more game and an opportunity to end the season with a win. those are nice perks for everybody, as some programs will never again be able to compete for a national championship. and the two teams in the opener, Wake Forest and Navy epitomize those thoughts - as their selectivity will always limit the quality of recruits they can sign. both are highly regarded academic institutions, with Navy in a league of their own.
here’s to enjoyable games, and ESPN Bowl Mania success.
comment freely.
cheers,
the sports donkey
